Philosophy
The profession of accounting and tax is ever dynamic and becoming increasingly interesting and intricate both here in Canada and internationally.
At VKCPA, we decided a long time ago to become a value added strategic partner to our clients instead of becoming an overhead only necessary to look after compliance with tax and other regulatory imperatives.
In a small boutique set up, we provide services that most other practitioners do not venture into. Of particular mention are our consulting services for SR&ED program and international tax modelling that involves setting up off shore tax structures to minimize taxation and set up our clients for maximum leverage out of their capital and earnings.
Our approach to engagements is both professional and personal. A lot of what we do is complex and it’s our job to take our clients through the process of it making sense for them. This requires in depth knowledge of the client’s business and management team. We believe great solutions are found when people work together.

Mr. Vijay Kalra completed his undergraduate degree B.Com (H) from Shriram College of Commerce, the top most School in University of Delhi, in 1979. After three years of articling in medium sized Accounting firms, he graduated as a Chartered Accountant in 1983.
Mr. Kalra moved to Canada in 1985 and worked for 7 years in different accounting firms in Toronto and Long Island, New York. During this period, he completed his requirements to earn designations CPA from Colorado State and Chartered Accountant in Ontario. In 1992, he started his independent accounting firm and has continued in public accounting since.
In almost 40 years of being in this profession, Mr. Kalra has worked in a vast variety of business situations for clients of all sizes and industries. Having worked extensively in various facets of the profession, Mr. Kalra particularly enjoys working with growing businesses. He has a vast knowledge in setting up tax models for Canadian IP intensive companies. He has set up and administered off shore tax entities and also brought into Canada many companies from the USA.
